ALC - Rodeo Competitors Come to Mondovi Senior Community

Posted 7/18/2017

Seniors at American Lutheran Communities - Mondovi were shouting “Yee-Haw” to send off a group of high school athletes competing at the rodeo nationals in Gillette, Wyoming as seen on WEAU

“This is so exciting! Many of our friends and neighbors here grew up and lived on farms so the rodeo culture is something many participated in their entire lives,” said Administrator Peter Filla.

The six Mondovi High School athletes who range in age from 15 to 18 years old will hold a rodeo roping demonstration in the parking lot at the facility and explain what kind of competitions they’ll be participating decked out in their western wear.

“This will be such a great time for the residents. They’re proud of their rural heritage and the kids who will be competing at such a high level,” Filla added.

The athletes from Mondovi who are competing at Nationals include:

Nick Pelke, 17 - Bull Riding, Team Roping, Steer Wrestling
Nathan Pelke, 15 - Steer Wrestling, Calf Tie-Down
Austin Poeschel, 18 - Bull Riding
Carly Buckholt, 17 - Barrel Racing
Dillon Larson, 18 - Bull Riding
